Events to mark 150th anniversary of Corbiere lighthouse

The 150th anniversary of Corbière lighthouse will be marked by a series of events this week, Ports of Jersey (PoJ) has said.
The building, one of the most recognisable landmarks in Jersey, has guided seafarers through the island's treacherous waters since April 1874.
The lighthouse was first lit on 24 April 1874, with four keepers working two-day shifts, PoJ said.
A plaque will be unveiled later to celebrate the occasion.
PoJ said gold floodlighting would illuminate the tower and a 3D scan of inside the building would also be uploaded to its website.
A "limited number of tours of the lighthouse" will take place, it said.
Matt Thomas, PoJ chief executive officer, said it was an honour to be entrusted with the care of one of the island's most photographed landmarks.
"Corbière Lighthouse marks hazards for seafarers on the south and west coasts, both as a painted day mark and a night-time warning light," he said.
"We take our responsibility seriously and carry out regular inspections to maintain the critical service the lighthouse performs, and to keep the original brass fixtures and fittings polished."
He said the lighthouse had received a "fresh coat of paint both inside and out" for the anniversary.
"We look forward to celebrating this special birthday with islanders," he said.
