Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton end relationship

Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger has split up with her boyfriend, Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton.

The pair had been together for about five years and have broken up before.

A spokeswoman for Nicole Scherzinger, who is currently filming the latest series of The X Factor, confirmed the relationship had ended but did not make any further comment.

Yesterday Hamilton suffered a blown tyre while taking part in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Hamilton, who dropped from first to last place before battling back to finish fourth, called the situation "unacceptable".

Last month Ofcom ruled that Nicole Scherzinger's use of the term 'effing' on a live episode of The X Factor in November 2012, was unsuitable for a pre-watershed audience.

Lewis Hamilton had described his long distance relationship with Nicole Scherzinger as the "norm".

The Formula 1 driver added: "Even if it's just for a day I'll fly all the way over to Los Angeles. You land there, you have a great dinner and you leave the next day."
