TV pundit Roy Keane said Gareth Bale's performance against Juventus was so bad it was like his side played with a man down.

He said: "You can't win a game with 10 men. Gareth Bale gave Real Madrid nothing. He took the easy decision every time."

So how bad was he?

We got out our Newsbeat calculators and gathered together some stats to work out what kind of night he really had.

It won't make pretty reading in the Bale house.

Our sums

For all you pedants out there we have made a lot of assumptions and guessed a few things but we think you will get the idea.

So now we have got our excuses out of the way here is what we have worked out...

He made 18 passes at a cost of £16,666.67 each.

We have been generous to Gareth and assumed that each of his 32 touches of the ball lasted two seconds costing Real £4,867.50 per contribution.

He played for 86 minutes and set back the Bank of Bernabeu £3,488 per minute.

So how did we come to these figures?

We based it on the reports in the papers that he gets paid £300,000 per week.

We are also getting ahead of ourselves and predicting that he gets dropped at the weekend - and before you all write in to complain - we didn't include his training because how can running about in the Spanish sun be classed as work?

Expert analysis

His impact on the game was pretty limited and images of his heat map have been doing the rounds on social media.

You may think that our analysis is all a bit amateur and you may well be right - so what did the experts make of it?

Former Scotland winger Pat Nevin was summariser at the Juventus Stadium for the BBC. He suggested Bale was not fully fit.

"We know he has incredible pace," he said.

"Ordinarily, four or five times a game he will burn off past defenders. Not once did we see that today."

The Spanish newspaper Marca was not impressed with the Welsh man.

"Madrid needed something to light a spark. It wasn't going to be Bale, who was switched off all night."

But let's be fair on Gareth. He did get some backing... although it was from his own agent.

Jonathan Barnett questioned why they should take any notice of comments from people who "don't know what they are talking about - and from people who have failed in management."
