The Vaccines: Kanye 'best choice' for Glastonbury
- Published
The Vaccines say Kanye West headlining Saturday night at Glastonbury is "the best choice."
Justin and Freddie from the band both agree Kanye's controversial slot is a good thing.
"He's the most important artist in the world at the most important festival," Justin tells Newsbeat.
"You've got to try and create a moment and when Jay Z did it, it was a big moment. I think you've got to take risks and it's paid off."
Sadly they don't have a chance to see his set because they're heading straight to Paris after they play Glastonbury on Friday evening.
"I'd much rather be here for the whole weekend," says Justin.
Bassist Freddie says: "I think it's commendable Glastonbury don't book the same rock acts year in year out.
"It's a bold choice and I think it's the right choice."
Our first Glastonbury
Justin says he was on site back in 2008 where he was also performing.
"I wasn't on the poster. I was so far down I didn't make it onto the poster but it was a free ticket so I came and saw Kings of Leon."
Justin wouldn't say what the name of the band he was in was called.
"If it was important enough to talk about, it would have been on the poster.
"I think I was on the Greenpeace stage. It's not one of the bigger ones."
Freddie's first Glastonbury came a little later than Justin's: 2011 to be precise.
"We played Friday on The Other Stage then flew to Madrid.
"We came back on the Sunday and played the John Peel stage. I don't really remember the festival."
"Glastonbury is like a city I'm familiar with", says Freddie.
Justin adds: "I think you have to be here for three solid days and learn how to survive amongst it."
