TomSka sorry for 'hypocritical' video on responsibility
- Published
Tomska has apologised for posting what he's called a "half baked and hypocritical" video on responsibility.
In his latest video, Ironically Irresponsible, the YouTuber says: "I screwed up and these are the consequences".
It follows backlash to his post which focused on how YouTubers are "influencers" and should consider young viewers.
It was directed at vlogger KSI, tweeting: "This one goes out to you @KSIOlajidebt [KSI's handle]".
The pair argued about the topic, with KSI claiming he doesn't influence his audience.
KSI is best known for making game-play videos, but some of his content has been criticised.
One video in particular features him showing random men pictures of transsexual girls, asking if they'd sleep with them, then "revealing" they're trans girls. He then laughs and calls the men "gay".
In the tweets, Tomska told KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olatunji, "You're a role model, like it or not".
KSI replied: "I have no control on what people say lol. It's not my responsibility. I just make videos bro."
Many agreed with Tomska's view, but others said it was hypocritical, or that the responsibility lay with parents of younger viewers rather than viewers themselves.
Despite claiming that he had to "stand by" his video, Tomska has now unlisted the video and apologised for it being "half baked and hypocritical".
Explaining why he'd taken the video down, he said: "When it comes to criticising others, I don't really have a leg to stand on. The only responsibility I'm prepared to take is that I try and make sure that my jokes aren't harmful, that they don't result in bullying or imitation, but that's it.
"If I want to keep making the jokes that I want to make, then I kind of need to just shut up."
