Jay McGuiness from The Wanted is the 10th celebrity to join this year's Strictly Coming Dancing contest.

Speaking to Radio 1's Matt Edmondson, he said he has met six or seven of the other contestants and sees himself as "firmly in the middle".

They said he has "some technical ability but all this stuff will be learning new things for me".

"Before I was in the band I used to dance. I was basically like a contemporary boy.

"I did delve into the world of hip hop and that was a terrible mistake."

He added: "Five years of touring and not exercising ever has probably beaten a few bad habits back into me."

Even with that lack of exercise he said he was not worried about Strictly's notoriously punishing schedule.

"They said to me 'you are obliged to practice at least 12 hours a week' and I thought 'hey, I'm going to be doing it like 10 hours a day'.

"I don't want to go out there and do badly because I didn't try. I'm just going to go until I drop I think."

Jay's been on Strictly before in 2012 - but that time he was with the band.

Of all the judges it's Len Goodman he fears the most: "If he critiques your technique then that's scary - because he's like a pro."

He'll be competing for Len's approval with Peter Andre, Carol Kirkwood, Ainsley Harriot, Kellie Bright, Georgia May Foote, Katie Derham, Anthony Ogogo and Daniel O'Donnell who've already been announced.
