JK Rowling and Piers Morgan have been showing the world that they really don't get along.

The Harry Potter creator and Good Morning Britain presenter have been publicly arguing on Twitter.

It started as a simple back and forth after Piers Morgan was sworn at on a US chat show.

It's led to surprising revelations about Morgan family tattoos - and a Harry Potter book being painstakingly Tweeted, line by line.

Where it all began

It kicked off when JK Rowling shared a video of Piers Morgan being sworn at on a US chat show on Friday night.

Morgan then claimed he'd "never read a single word" of Harry Potter.

He tweeted that JK Rowling had "loudly backed Ed Miliband, Remain & Hillary. Takes some wizardry to be so wrong so often. 😂", external

Rowling hit back, referencing Piers Morgan's support for US President Donald Trump.

"If only you'd read Harry Potter, you'd know the downside of sucking up to the biggest bully in school is getting burned alive", JK Rowling tweeted., external

Others were about book sale stats, of course.

She also posted a link to a news article about the time she won book of the year at the British Book Awards, ahead of Piers Morgan's autobiography., external

Piers Morgan's son, Spencer, clearly felt caught in the middle - especially as he's got a Harry Potter tattoo.

He tweeted a photo of it with the caption "well this is awkward"., external

Harry Potter fan Simon Key, who runs a book shop in London, decided to get involved too and has been tweeting Piers Morgan the entire text from the Philosopher's Stone.

He started with the opening line of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: "Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.", external

Since he began, the book shop owner has made some progress and is currently up to quote number 176 out of an estimated 32,567.

It was: "It's lucky it's dark. I haven't blushed so much since Madam Pomfrey told me she liked my new earmuffs.", external
