Ariana Grande fans: We just had to be at One Love Manchester

Ariana Grande fans have described the nerves and excitement they felt before Sunday's huge One Love Manchester concert.

More than 50,000 fans packed the Old Trafford Cricket Ground.

They watched performances by the star herself alongside the likes of Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Little Mix, Coldplay and Liam Gallagher.

Molly Kitchen told Newsbeat: "I'm really nervous but really excited at the same time."

She was at the gig attacked by a suicide bomber on 22 May, killing 22 people and injuring many more.

"I've come here because I was at the Manchester tour," she told Newsbeat.

"I just wanted to come because I want to enjoy myself. I wanted to put things at rest."

She explained that she felt "really nervous" but "excited" at the same time, before Sunday night's concert.

"There's other concerts I want to go to in the future without being as worried," she added.

"So I just wanted to come for closure - and tell people that we actually aren't scared."

Fellow fans Jasmine Mayers and Lydia Smith said they came to the concert "to show support to the victims' families".

"We just wanted to show people we're not scared."

Fans Melissa, Niamh and Leah told Newsbeat they "wanted to be strong" for the family of fans who were not as lucky as them

Melissa Wharton, Niamh Hosey and Leah Smith were also in the arena when the attack happened nearly two weeks ago.

"We were lucky we weren't hurt," they told us.

"We've got to be strong. We've got to be there for everyone in Manchester.

"Everyone's been so amazing," Melissa added tearfully.

'The medicine the world needs right now'

Ariana Grande performed a number of songs, including a duet with Miley Cyrus.

"Thanks for being so strong," she told the audience. "This is the medicine the world needs right now."

"We honour you and we love you," Justin Bieber said.

Pharrell Williams told the crowd, "I don't see or smell or hear any fear" at the open-air concert.

"All we feel is love, resilience, positivity."
