It's hard to imagine a life without TV but it was only 75 years ago that programmes started being broadcast.
On 2 November 1936 the world's first high definition TV service was created and the BBC started transmitting from Alexandra Palace in north London.
There was only one channel and it was on air for two hours a day except Sundays, and there weren't any children's programmes until 1946!
