Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards

This picture of lions resting on a rock in Africa has won the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award. It was taken by Michael Nichols who captured the image on the roof of his car while the female lions were sleeping with their cubs.
The Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award was won by 8-year-old Carlos Perez Naval from Spain. His picture of this common yellow scorpion was praised because of the techniques used to capture not only the scorpion but the sunlight shining on to it.
This spectacular lightning show around a volcano eruption in Chile won the Earth's Environments prize and was taken by Francisco Negroni.
This amazing shot of a deer mouse standing on a mushroom was the winner in the mammals category. It was taken in the US state of Montana by Alex Badyaev.
Will Jenkins, from the UK, was a finalist in the 11 to 14 Years category with his picture of a green iguana that was playing near his holiday hotel pool in Costa Rica.
