The San Francisco Zoo is celebrating the 45th birthday of Elly, the oldest black rhinoceros in North America.

The exact date of Elly's birthday isn't known, as she was born in the wild. But she has lived at the zoo since April 1974.

Elly celebrated with her favorite treats: corn, beets and bananas!

She has given birth to 14 calves, helping raise numbers for the critically endangered species.

Conservationists think the number of black rhinos has gone down to 3,000 to 5,000, due to poaching for their horns.
