In Windsor, the Queen lit the first of more than 900 beacons lighting up across the UK and abroad.

The beacons of fire were lit to celebrate the Queen's birthday - the Chief Yeoman Warder lit one at at the Tower of London.

Beacons were lit across the whole country, including here at Whitby Abbey in North Yorkshire.

Beacons were also lit abroad, like this one in the British colony of Gibraltar in Spain. They also shone images of the Queen on to the tower.

Chelsea Pensioners, who are retired people who used to serve in the army, lit a beacon for the Queen at their retirement home in London.
