That's because he only gets four hours sleep a day in naps of 30 or 40 minutes which he takes in between checking and maintaining the balloon's equipment and instruments.Image source, ReutersImage caption, The Russian adventurer also has to wear an oxygen mask at all times because he is flying at altitudes between 6,000 and 9,000 metres so there is a lot less oxygen in the air to breathe. He also has to keep cleaning the mask so that it doesn't get covered in ice!Image source, ReutersImage caption, Fedor hopes to beat the previous record of 13 days and eight hours which was set by American adventurer Steve Fossett in 2002. He will enter the tricky last leg of his journey soon, where he will have to battle against some fierce weather conditions.More on this storyPictures: 'The world's toughest triathlon'Published2 February 2014The man taking selfies with sharks.
