Nintendo's latest release of Animal Crossing has quickly become their second most downloaded mobile game ever.
Mobile app data analyser, Sensor Tower, have published figures saying that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp hit 15 million downloads in just the first six days after its launch!
This means it has beaten mobile games such as Pokémon GO which was downloaded only 6.8 million times in its first six days, and Fire Emblem Heroes which was downloaded 7 million times.
Pocket Camp is now Nintendo's second most popular mobile game. The first is Super Mario Run, which was downloaded 32 million times in the first week of its release.
What is Animal Crossing?
The game has been around for a long time now. It was first launched in 2001.
Players of the original game take on the role of a human in an animal village.
In the village they can collect items, tend their garden and make friends with the other characters.
Pocket Camp is the latest in a series of Animal Crossing games. It is free to download on Android and iOS. Some believe this is what has helped it become so popular.
In Pocket Camp, players take on the role of a holiday camp manager. Animal characters visit the camp which is designed by the player.
Technical problems at launch
Due to the large number of people who tried to download the game at the same time, Nintendo did encounter some server problems.
Some fans received error messages when logging into the game or loading a new area.
The error messages are now not happening as much, though there are reports that they are still causing problems for some users.
Nintendo have been working to fix these issues and have offered in-game currency as an apology for the technical issues.
