The Eurovision Song Contest gets under way in Lisbon with the first semi-final at the Lisbon Arena.

Countries from all over Europe - and a few from outside Europe - will be taking part in the singing competition, which millions of people watch on TV all over the world.

It is the 63rd time the contest has taken place and will consist of two semi-finals, before 26 contestants make it through to the grand final.

Lots of lucky people will be able to go to watch the contest live.

Organisers have released a list of items that audience members won't be allowed to take in with them, and there are some... interesting... things on there.

So, if you're going, here's what you definitely CAN'T take with you.

Golf balls

Forget it. There shall be no golf at the Eurovision Song Contest this year, as golf balls are BANNED.

Cups and mugs

Fancied having a brew halfway through the competition in your favourite mug? Well, think again, my friend, as that mug will be confiscated faster than you can say 'international singing competition'.

Ladders

Want to get a better view? You might think that bringing a ladder to the competition would be a great way to do this, but you would be WRONG! Ain't no ladders getting anywhere near this event.

Power banks

It might seem sensible to take a power pack to keep your phone charged up. Don't. Even. Think. About. It. It won't be allowed in.

Ropes

Fancy practicing your knots while you're waiting for the next act to come on? I wouldn't bother. They'll just take your ropes off you.

Selfie sticks

Anyone in the audience hoping to take a selfie with a trusty selfie stick will be disappointed, as those things won't be allowed in the arena either.

Trolleys

We're not sure who was planning on taking a shopping trolley with them to watch the competition, but for those who were? Don't bother. Leave the supermarket shop at home. Trolleys are on the BANNED list.

Umbrellas

Given that the UK's entry for the competition is a song called Storm, you might have thought an umbrella would be a suitable prop to bring along to cheer on the singer, SuRie. But we wouldn't! That will be taken off you too.

Extension cables

Well you can't take your power pack, so you might want to bring an extension cable to reach the nearest plug to charge your phone. Well, bad luck, extension cables will be scooped off you if you try to take one of those in.

Adhesive tape

If you thought packing some adhesive tape would be a sensible idea if, ya know, you need to do any repair work while you're watching, you'll be sad to hear that adhesive tape will also not be allowed in to the arena. That broken chair will just have to wait.

Chairs

Oh, what?! You can't even take your chair in with you anyway?! Well, that's the end of that then.
