Hong Kong protests: How do reporters stay safe?

People in Hong Kong have been protesting in the street to show their anger at the Chinese government.

The protests started nine weeks ago, triggered by a new law that could see people in Hong Kong put on trial for political crimes in China, which many people in Hong Kong feel is unfair.

Lots of reporters are in Hong Kong to tell the story of what is happening there. They need to make sure they are staying safe among the protests to ensure they don't get hurt while they are doing their job.

BBC news reporter Nick Beake has been covering the unrest and he told Newsround how he makes sure that he stays safe while doing this.
