The cause of the Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) crash is now being investigated but Iran have admitted that they shot it down by accident.
They have said that "missiles fired due to human error" caused the crash and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani described the crash as an "unforgivable mistake".
The Iranian army said the jet flew close to a sensitive site belonging to Iran's military and was mistaken for a hostile aircraft.
UIA has suspended all flights to and from Iran and some airlines have re-routed planes from the region's airspace.
