The Queen has been placed into the royal vault ahead of her burial later in a private family service.

A piper played to mark the solemn moment and the congregation sang God Save the King.

Members of the Royal Family including King Charles III then left the chapel for Windsor Castle.

At 7.30pm, the King and his relatives will return to the chapel for a private burial service for the Queen where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The first prayer begins: "Remember, O Lord, thy servant Elizabeth who has gone before us with the sign of faith, and now rests in sleep."

The congregation then says the Lord's prayer together.

Sophia (left) and Ranuli (right) went into London to watch the Queen's funeral

Due to the funeral, Sophia and Ranuli were off school today. They came into London to see the funeral in St James' Park.

"The Queen was a big inspiration for me and for my family too." said Sophia.

"I'll never forget how inspiring the Queen was and how hard it must have been for Charles this week."

"The Queen represents so much for all of us," said Ranuli. "She's both a symbol of stability but also of change as well because so much has happened during her reign.

"It's kind of weird to imagine a world where she doesn't exist. I came here to celebrate the fact that she lived through so much."

Maria travelled from Darlington to be at the funeral. She brought a book about Paddington Bear and some marmalade to leave at the tribute garden.

The message inside was: "To Queen Elizabeth, we've left you two jars of marmalade for you and Prince Phillip to have together in Heaven.

"We hope you enjoy your sandwiches, Ma'am. Thank you for everything."

4.10pm: Queen is taken into St George's Chapel

The funeral procession has now arrived at St George's Chapel.

The Queen's coffin will shortly be carefully lifted by the bearer party and carried into the chapel.

This same chapel was where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, got married in 2018.

4.00pm King and senior royals join the procession

Senior members of the Royal Family have now joined the procession as the state hearse approaches St George's Chapel.

King Charles III, Princess Anne, Princes Andrew and Edward, as well as Princes William and Harry are now walking behind the hearse

3.55pm: The Queen enters Windsor castle.

These are the final moments for the public to see the car carrying the Queen's coffin.

Once it goes inside the gates of Windsor Castle there will be no more members of the public.

Only those who have come to the chapel to take part in this service will be there.

So this is the last glimpse the public there will see, except of course by watching it on television.

12:50pm Newsround's Ricky at Buckingham Palace

I'm standing in front of Buckingham Palace, where the Queen spent a lot of her time. There are thousands of people lining the streets, but it's absolutely silent. All I can hear is the sound of gun salutes ringing around the capital. We're now waiting for the Queen's coffin to travel past Buckingham Palace from Westminster Abbey.

Some people have been listening to the service on their phones and watching the funeral crowded around small screens. Children are sitting on the pavement and taking in the sights.

It's hard not to feel moved by the silence.

The world's media are covering this story and broadcasting the Queen's funeral to millions of viewers right around the globe.
