Netball World Cup 2023: Wins and losses for England, Scotland and Wales

England, Scotland and Wales have all been in action at the Netball World Cup in South Africa.

The tournament kicked off on 28 July, and will run until 6 August.

It takes place every four years and it's the first time it's been held in an African country in the tournament's history.

England won their opening match against Barbados, whilst Scotland and Wales suffered defeats in their opening matches against Malawi and South Africa.

England

England had a great start to the first day of the tournament, thrashing Barbados 90-29.

They followed this with another win against Malawi, beating them 62-39 and bagging the Rose's their 100th victory!

The team will play their next match against rivals Scotland.

How does the Netball World Cup work?

There are 16 teams in four pools in the first group stage, with the top three in each pool advancing to the second pool stage, which will determine who advances to the semi-finals. The final is on 6 August.

It was a close call for Scotland who just missed out on a win in their first match against Malawi, who claimed a 55-49 victory over the Thistles.

Scotland came back fighting in their second game managing to beat Barbados 53-44.

The Scots are up against fellow home nation team England next.

Pool B: England, Malawi, Scotland, Barbados

Pool C: Jamaica, South Africa, Wales and Sri Lanka

Pool D: New Zealand, Uganda, Trinidad & Tobago and Singapore

Wales have had a rollercoaster start to the tournament, suffering two defeats in their opening two matches.

They lost 61-50 to host nation South Africa in their first game in front of a packed crowd of 5000 fans.

This was followed by a second defeat against Jamaica, losing 75-40.

However, the Feathers won in their third match of the tournament against Sri Lanka, beating them 68-56.

They will be back in action on Monday where they will play against the top team in group D.
