If you've got a cat, have you ever wondered how far it goes when it is let outside?

It's fair to say one family in Bristol will have been surprised when they found out their cat, Nutmeg, had managed to travel almost 140 miles away from their home.

Two-year-old Nutmeg went missing from her family home at the end of September.

She was returned two weeks later when staff found her at a supermarket in Crewe in Cheshire.

Her owners William Earp and Martha Street said it was a "huge relief" to have their "mischievous and curious" cat back home.

"It feels so wonderful to have her home, she was tired and subdued, but welcoming cuddles, which was all we wanted," they added.

Animal rescue charity CAFO returned Nutmeg after finding her details on her microchip and contacting William and Martha.

Rachel Griffiths from the charity said: "It was probably one of the best reunions we've ever had."

How Nutmeg got all that way remains a mystery, but I'm sure she will be placed under strict su-purr-vision after her adventure.
