RAYE made Brits history by winning six awards in one ceremony

One of the biggest nights in British pop music - the Brit Awards - took place in London on Saturday night and there was one singer who stole the show!

RAYE made history by winning a record-breaking six awards at the star-studded ceremony, the most by any artist in a single year.

The singer-songwriter picked up prizes for Best Song, Best Artist and Best Album as well as taking home the awards for Best R&B act, Best New Artist, and Songwriter of the Year.

Other winners on the night included Dua Lipa who was announced as Best Pop act and Miley Cyrus who won International Song of the Year for Flowers.

RAYE had already made history with a record-breaking seven nominations.

And it certainly was her night as she picked up all but one of the prizes she was nominated for - beating the previous record of four awards in one ceremony that that had been jointly held by Harry Styles, Adele and Blur.

RAYE also became the first woman to win songwriter of the year.

She took her grandma Agatha on stage to collect her sixth award and it was clear to see how much the whole night had meant to her.

She said: "All I ever wanted to be was an artist, and now I'm an artist with an Album of the Year. Thank you so much, this is too much - come on Grandma, let's go."

Dua Lipa opened the show with a performance of her new song

The only category RAYE missed out on was Best Pop Act - which went to Dua Lipa.

Collecting her award, Dua thanked fans for giving her a "sense of confidence that I can do anything" and she also opened the show with a performance of her new song Training Season.

Best International Artist was won by US singer-songwriter SZA, who beat stars like Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo to take home the award.

Other winners on the night included Calvin Harris, who won Best Dance Act and Group of the Year went to Jungle.

Australian pop legend Kylie Minogue picked up Global Icon award and performed a number of her hits

This year's Global Icon award went to pop legend Kylie Minogue who told the audience that there is still "a part of me that's the 14-year-old girl in the room dreaming of making music".

The show finished with the Australian singer hitting the stage to perform a number of hits from her five decade-long career.
