How quickly do you think you can solve a Rubik's Cube?

Well, a robot designed in Japan has just broken the World Record by completing the 3D puzzle in just 0.3 seconds - around the same amount of time it takes to blink.

The robot was so speedy, it was more than 10 times faster than the human record!

The human record of 3.13 seconds was set in June last year at a Rubik’s Cube speed solving event in California.

The robot, made by Mitsubishi Electric, shows the advancements in robotics in recent years.

In 2009, the world record for a robot solving a Rubik's cube was one minute and four seconds.

This had sped up to the previous record of 0.38 seconds, just 0.08 seconds slower than Mitsubishi Electric's new record.

"Shaving off time as much as possible was difficult, but it was fun at the same time,” Mitsubishi engineer Tokui, who led the record attempt, told Guinness World Records.

What is a Rubik's Cube?

The Rubik's Cube was invented by Hungarian architecture professor Ernő Rubik around 50 years ago.

And since then it has remained as one of the world's most popular puzzle-games.
