Emma Raducanu was the first British winner at the 2024 tournament
Seven Brits took to the courts on day one of the competition.
Emma Raducanu was the first British player to get a win at the tournament after securing a victory in a difficult match.
22-year-old Sonay Kartel also came home with a win, as did Lily Mayazaki, who made it to the second round of the tournament for the first time.
Celebrity sightings

David Attenborough was one of the celebs who was spotted

David Beckham also watched the tournament on Centre court

Singer Pixie Lott seemed to be enjoying the game
Sir David Attenborough and David Beckham were among those watching from the Royal Box as Raducanu played.
No members of the royal family were in attendance on day one, but other TV presenters and celebrity faces appeared throughout the day, including singer Pixie Lott.
Andy Murray

Andy Murray has decided not to play in the Wimbledon singles competition
Arguably one of the most famous players from the UK, Andy Murray has won Wimbledon twice - in 2013 and 2016.
But he has announced he won't be playing in the singles competition.
"Unfortunately, despite working incredibly hard on his recovery since his operation just over a week ago, Andy has taken the very difficult decision not to play the singles this year," Murray's team said in a statement.
Andy will still be making his farewell to Wimbledon by taking part in the men's doubles with his brother Jamie.
