Sonic the Hedgehog 3: What's in the new trailer?

A new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has just been released introducing Keanu Reeves as Shadow, Sonic's rival.
Rumours that Keanu Reeves would be playing Sonic's nemesis had already been circulating online and in the trailer fans can hear his voice for the first time.

What do we see in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 trailer?
In the trailer we see Shadow breaking out of a frozen state as part of a government experiment named Project Shadow.
Shadow is shown to be a powerful rival to Sonic and the trailer suggests that Sonic, Tails and Knuckles might even team up with their arch rival Dr Robotnik to beat him.
Jim Carey returns to play Dr Robotnik along with Ben Schwartz who voices Sonic, Idris Elba who voices Knuckles and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails.
Who is Sonic the Hedgehog?
The Sonic the Hedgehog films are based on a Sega video game that was released in 1991.
The film was a huge hit when it was released in 2020 and had the biggest ever opening weekend for a video game to movie adaptation in the US.
A sequel was released in 2022.
The third film has been eagerly anticipated especially for fans of Shadow who first appeared in a game in 2001.
Sega has officially declared 2024 the Year of Shadow with the game sonic x shadow generations due to be released in October.
Sonic 3 is due to be released in UK cinemas on 21 December.
