Whale rescued off Isle of Skye
- Published
A humpback whale has been rescued off the coast of the Isle of Skye after getting tangled in some rope.
A member of the public spotted the ocean mammal in a salmon farm in Invertote.
They realised the animal was in trouble, so called the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) to raise the alarm.

The BDMLR has now confirmed that, while exhausted, the humpback is safe and sound after being rescued.
They said the whale had become "visibly entangled in rope" at the fish farm and was "unable to swim freely".
It said their large 'whale disentanglement team' was gathered from all across the UK to save the humpback.
The salmon farm, called Organic Sea Harvest, said in a statement its operations were paused while the whale was being freed.
They added that instances like this were unusual: "Marine mammals, including dolphins and whales, are a common sight near salmon farms, but it is extremely rare for them to come into contact with our sites."
