Girl's message in a bottle travels from Sunderland to Sweden
- Published
Imagine throwing two messages in glass bottles into the sea - only for them both to be discovered in different countries less than a year later.
Well that's what happened to Grace, 12, and her brother Harry, who is six.
They threw bottles filled with hand-written scrolls, which included their names and contact details for their mother, off a pier in Sunderland in August 2023.
In March, their mum received a response on social media to say Harry's bottle had been found in Denmark.
And now it's Grace's turn, as her bottle has washed up in Sweden!

How was the message in a bottle found?
In August this year, their mum received a message from a man called Freddy Stahlberg, who said he found Grace's bottle on an island in Sweden called Pinno.
Freddy said he found it hard to read the message inside at first, as it had been in salt water for a while.
They saw Grace's mum's name and the word Sunderland and found her on social media. Freddy then sent his own message, but on a computer this time.
He said: "She replied some time later and we were all very enthusiastic about having solved the riddle."
Freddy said he often goes on "treasure hunts" with his five-year-old grandson, who was excited about the discovery.
Their mum said: "Grace was really shocked, she couldn't believe it because there was a very slim chance that Harry's would be found, so when we discovered Grace's had also been found she was absolutely over the moon."
Harry's bottle was found by a man called Frederik and Grace's was found by someone called Freddy - what are the chances!
The family is now hoping to go to the locations to see where their bottles washed up.
