Where did the Ice Bucket Challenge start and why?

The Ice Bucket Challenge involves pouring a bucket of ice water over yourself, nominating your friends to do the same and making a donation to a charity
The challenge first came around in 2014, where it started in America as a way to raise awareness of the condition ALS which is a form of Motor Neurone Disease.
Back in 2014 hundreds of celebrities including Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, The Rock and Victoria and David Beckham took on the challenge.
The campaign went viral and raised thousands of dollars in weeks, and hundreds of thousands of dollars overall.
The newest ice bucket challenge was created by students at University of South Carolina's Mental Illness Needs Discussion club who posted on Instagram about the challenge to raise awareness and funds for mental health causes.
What is the Ice Bucket Challenge?

The challenge involves soaking yourself in freezing water
The Ice Bucket Challenge involves pouring a bucket of ice water over yourself (or getting someone to do it for you), then nominating your friends to do the same and making a donation to a charity.
This time round the charity being supported by the challenge is a student-run charity called MIND (Mental Illness Needs Discussion) in the United States.
Like last time, the trend began in America but now people from all across the world are joining in and spreading the message.
