Lara's latest creation stands at more than 6ft tall

Shrek famously once said that ogres have layers, well that's kind of been proven, only this one's layers are made of cake and lots of it.

Millions of people watched on social media as a baker created this giant cake model of everyone's favourite ogre.

Lara Mason has made loads of life-size cake creations in the past, including Taylor Swift and one of Sabrina Carpenter - let's hope it had a nice Taste.

To make sure all the cake didn't go to waste, this one was cut up and donated to food banks who Lara says "were more than happy to take a big delivery".

On the right is the completed Shrek sculpture, looking just like the film character. Lara was inspired to create everyone's favourite ogre after seeing teasers for the new movie

Lara spent 40 hours, over four days to sculpt the model, which stands at 6.5ft (1.98m) tall.

It was created using chocolate ganache and 50 layers of vanilla cake - yum.

Usually Lara bakes her own sponge for her sculptures, but due to the time it takes to make them, this can sometimes lead to the cake going stale.

To make sure this one stayed fresh so it could be donated, she got help from a bakery nearby.

Shrek's face came with its challenges

Lara said she has been making cakes for more than 13 years, but she'd never made a cake this big in such a short time before.

Shrek's face swamped the baker with problems, but not because of the fine detail, it was because of its weight.

That coupled with the ganache being too soft and the summer heatwave, led to the face falling off overnight.

She said she was "ready to give up", but thanks to some kebab skewers and a bit of dedication she managed to finish just in time.

"Knowing the cake was going to a good cause, I wanted to put my all into it, so I worked extra hard to get it finished."
