Imagine being a huge football fan, travelling ten thousand miles to watch your favourite team in their final match with their fiercest rivals at their famous stadium - only for the game to be cancelled.

That's exactly what happened to Mackenzie, a 15-year-old Everton fan from Sydney, Australia.

He had saved up all his money to fly over for the Merseyside derby at Everton's Goodison Park stadium last December only for the game to be called off because of bad weather.

At first, Mackenzie was really disappointed, but then something incredible happened...

Everton's team captain, Seamus Coleman, heard about Mackenzie's story and decided to invite him to meet the team at their training ground last year.

Now, with the rescheduled match taking place last night, Seamus remembered Mackenzie and paid for the teenager's flight to make sure he could come back and actually see the match this time.

"I didn't think it was going to happen," said Mackenzie explaining he had been saving up for another flight.

"I kept checking my bank account seeing if I had enough, checking the flights and at the last minute he [Seamus Coleman] swooped in and brought me over here."

Mackenzie's mum Rita was born in Liverpool and his Everton-supporting family still live in the city.

He used money that had been put aside for driving lessons to make the first trip last year.

The rearranged game was Everton's final match at their home ground Goodison Park against their fiercest city rivals Liverpool.

Next season they will move to a new stadium in the city, Bramley-Moore Dock.

And what a game for Mackenzie to witness, in the final seconds of the match, with Everton losing the game 2-1, defender James Tarkowski smashed the ball into the roof of Liverpool's net to equalise and draw the game.
