GB's Larry Godfrey and Amy Oliver win world team bronze

British duo Larry Godfrey and Amy Oliver took World Championships bronze in the mixed team event in Turin.

Bristolian Godfrey and Oliver, from Rotherham, convincingly beat Poland 147-139 in the third place shoot-off.

The result rounded off a strong week for both after Godfrey reached the men's individual quarter-finals while Oliver made the women's last 16.

"This all bodes well in preparations for next year's Olympics," said GB performance director Sara Symington.

This is the last major international championship before London 2012, where the mixed team event will not feature.

But Symington said: "It's a fantastic performance by Larry and Amy. They both shot really well all week, indeed, they're both having a great season."

Godfrey said: "While I'd have liked to have won a medal in the individual event, to end up in the world's top eight is a big boost.

"I'm totally focussed on London 2012, and winning a World Championship medal is a great boost in my preparations."

Godfrey and Oliver had almost clinched their medal at the halfway stage, by when they had a seven-point lead over Polish duo Jacek Proc and Justyna Mospinek.
