The Plymouth Raiders have signed American point guard Ben Smith as their second non-EU player.

Smith, 23, played for Uppsala in Sweden last season after four years as a standout player at the University of Jacksonville in Florida.

There he played alongside fellow Raider Lehmon Colbert and averaged 19.8 points per game.

"I'm confident that he will replicate that kind of form here in the BBL with the Raiders," said coach Gavin Love

"Obviously he knows Lehmon very well having played for a very good Jacksonville team, so that will give him a good head start," Love added.

And Smith says he cannot wait to get started with the Raiders.

"I am thrilled to join the team and look forward to living in the United Kingdom.

"I never thought I would play alongside my college teammate Lehmon Colbert again, so this will also be an added bonus to joining the team," he said.
