Middlesex 161-4 beat Hampshire 157-6 by six wickets

Irishman Paul Stirling smashed 10 boundaries in a quickfire 71 to see Middlesex to a first FL t20 win of 2012 against Hampshire at Southampton.

James Vince was the home side's top scorer with 64 not out as they ran up 157-6, Toby Roland Jones taking 4-25.

But Stirling's knock off, off 49 balls, with two sixes and eight fours, turned the contest the visitors' way.

He was backed by 46 from Dawid Malan as Middlesex reached their target on 161-4, with four balls to spare.

Hampshire, put in by Middlesex captain Neil Dexter, did well to post as big a target as they did, having at one stage been 83-5.
