Yorkshire Bank 40, Colwyn Bay:

Glamorgan 285-7 (40 overs) beat Yorkshire 257 (38.2 overs) by 28 runs

Glamorgan began their Yorkshire Bank 40 campaign with a comfortable 28-run victory over Yorkshire at Colwyn Bay.

The home side reached 285-7 from their 40 overs, with Marcus North's 68 runs from 80 balls underpinning the innings.

In reply, Yorkshire slumped to 1-2 as they lost Philip Jaques and Joseph Root in quick succession to Graham Wagg.

Captain Andrew Gale, Gary Ballance and Jonathan Bairstow all hit 50s in reply but a late flurry of wickets saw Yorkshire fall well short.

Glamorgan are back in action on Monday at Lord's, where they face Middlesex in the Yorkshire Bank 40.

BBC Radio Wales' Edwards Bevan:

"This was a notable for Glamorgan against a very strong Yorkshire side and they will face Middlesex with confidence at Lord's on Monday.

"Glamorgan made a commendable 285 for seven, with half-centuries from Will Bragg, Marcus North and Chris Cooke.

"Graham Wagg then gave them a huge boost by taking two wickets in his first over.

"Yorkshire recovered thanks to Andrew Gale and Gary Ballance, and then a belligerent innings of 53 from the England batsman Jonny Bairstow.

"But Glamorgan emerged as comfortable winners in the end by 28 runs, Dean Cosker and Michael Hogan each taking three wickets."
