Surrey v Sussex: Scott Styris denied as hosts win

Scott Styris struck 46 but could not prevent Sussex slipping to a three-run loss against Surrey at The Oval.

Jason Roy hit 29 and Gary Wilson smashed two sixes on his way to 44 not out as the hosts compiled 139-6 off their 20 overs.

Sussex looked in trouble when they fell to 11-3 midway through the third over.

Dwayne Smith (26) and Michael Yardy (27) dragged them back into the contest before Styris' 33-ball innings, but they ultimately fell short.

Needing 12 runs off the final over for victory, Surrey bowler Azhar Mahmood managed to limit the damage to just eight.

The result leaves Surrey top of the South Group, while Sussex are third.
