Surrey's 61-run victory over Essex secured them a FLt20 home quarter-final, while the hosts also qualified despite their defeat.
Hampshire's eight-run win over Middlesex meant Essex were able to hang onto third in the South Group.
Graham Napier (4-18) took two wickets in three balls early on, before Steven Davies (54) and Gary Wilson (43) helped the visitors post 165 all out.
Only Ryan ten Doeschate (60) reached double figures in Essex's 104 all out.
Surrey will entertain Somerset on Tuesday 6 August (1615 BST), with Essex travelling to Nottinghamshire on Thursday 8 August (1910 BST).
