Birmingham Bears 156-5 (20 overs) beat Nottinghamshire Outlaws 138-7 (20 overs) by 18 runs |
Laurie Evans' rapid 45 not out inspired Birmingham Bears as Nottinghamshire slumped to a third home defeat running.
The Bears won the toss but struggled to 43-3 as spinner Samit Patel took 3-26.
However, an unbeaten sixth-wicket stand of 67 by Evans, who struck six fours and a six, and Ateeq Javid (26 not out) led a recovery to 156-5.
Alex Hales (30) hit 20 from one Boyd Rankin over but, after Shoaib Malik snared him and Michael Lumb (24), Notts fell short on 138-7 to lose by 18 runs.
The Bears' third straight win lifts them to fourth in the North Group table, three points adrift of leaders Worcestershire and second-placed Lancashire, but with two games in hand on both.
After their County Championship game at Northampton, starting on Sunday, Dougie Brown's side play two Twenty20s in two nights next week.
They host Northants on Thursday before making the short trip to New Road to face Worcestershire in this summer's first Pears-Bears derby.
