Hampshire 180-6 (20 ovs) beat Gloucestershire 178-8 (20 ovs) by two runs

Will Smith's three-wicket haul set Hampshire up for a two-run T20 Blast victory over Gloucestershire.

Jimmy Adams fired an unbeaten 69 from 46 balls, which included two sixes, while Glenn Maxwell smashed 30 off 16 deliveries in Hampshire's 180-6.

Alex Gidman (37) and Michael Klinger (17) put on 61 in eight overs in reply, but Smith (3-26) dismissed both in three balls to turn the screw.

Gloucestershire fell just short on 178-8, despite Benny Howell's lively 50.

With the visitors seemingly out of the contest on 82-5 in the 13th over, Howell launched four sixes to bring them right back in the game.

They required 20 from the final six balls and Tom Smith (30 not out) hit the first three balls for four and then added a single.

Howell was run out attempting a second to leave Graeme McCarter needing to hit the final ball of the match for six, but Gloucestershire could only scamper three runs.
