Nottinghamshire 158-9 beat Birmingham Bears 152-6 by six runs

Nottinghamshire moved up to second in the T20 Blast North Group with a six-run win over the Birmingham Bears.

Opener Steven Mullaney (36 off 14 balls) and James Taylor (44) helped Notts reach 158-9 at Edgbaston, despite Jeetan Patel taking 3-16.

Mullaney then dropped Will Porterfield (51) on 30, but made up for it with a superb catch to dismiss Varun Chopra.

The Bears needed 13 off the last over, but excellent death bowling from Luke Fletcher meant they only made 152-6.

The Bears had looked on course to reach their target, but Fletcher's yorkers proved too much for Ateeq Javid, caught by Sam Wood, Freddie Coleman and Patel as they came up short.

Dougie Brown's side remain sixth in the T20 North Group table, four points behind Notts, but still just a point shy of the top four.
