Hampshire all-rounder Matt Coles has left the county by mutual agreement.

The 24-year-old signed a three-year contract in September 2013 after initially moving to the Ageas Bowl on loan from Kent.

But a club statement said Coles had not "settled as he, or we, would have liked" and he has been released after only one full season.

He took 41 wickets in 15 Championship games last summer as Hampshire won promotion to Division One.

The England Lions player was also a regular member of the club's limited-overs sides last summer, taking a combined total of 27 wickets in the One-Day Cup and T20 Blast.

He also hit a half-century off only 18 balls in their T20 win over Essex at Chelmsford.
