Glamorgan have confirmed fast bowler Michael Hogan will return from injury against Derbyshire in the County Championship starting on Sunday, 3 May.

Hogan, 33, hurt a hamstring playing for Western Australia and has missed Glamorgan's first two fixtures.

"We're delighted that Michael is back because he's been the spearhead of our attack for the past two years," said head coach Toby Radford.

Glamorgan drew their matches against Leicestershire and Surrey.

"Adding his prowess to what we've already seen from Andy Carter, Graham Wagg and Craig Meschede gives us as strong seam attack and we're keen to capitalise on that," added Radford.

"We've scored runs quite freely and lots of our batsmen have had good scores so there will be a real focus on trying to take 20 wickets."

Hogan has been a crucial strike bowler for Glamorgan in the last two seasons, claiming 98 wickets in all competitions and being named player of the year in 2014 despite missing three weeks on paternity leave.

Hogan and spinner Andrew Salter are added to the eleven who drew the games against Surrey at home and away to Leicestershire.

Derbyshire will arrive at the Swalec Stadium fresh from a convincing seven wicket-win over Gloucestershire in Bristol.

New Zealand World Cup star Martin Guptill smashed a career-best 227 in the first innings, while pace bowler Mark Footitt claimed nine wickets in the match.

But the visitors will have to replace Guptill because of injury, as well as opening batsman Billy Godleman who has been suspended after a dangerous throw in that game.
