Hampshire fined £4,000 for repeated discipline breaches

Hampshire have won just one match in the County Championship so far this season

Hampshire have been fined £4,000 and handed suspended points deductions for breaches of discipline by players.

The Cricket Discipline Commission Disciplinary Panel heard there had been five or more separate fixed penalty offences in the last year.

Deductions of 16 County Championship points and two points in each of the T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup have been suspended for a year.

They will be imposed only if a further two breaches occur within that period.

The original disciplinary hearing on 17 June ruled that the points deductions would come into immediate effect after any further breaches of conduct.

But, following an appeal, an announcement on 4 July altered the terms of the disciplinary penalty, determining that any points deduction would only be imposed after two further infringements by Hampshire players within that same 12 month period.

Hampshire have been instructed to "proactively address their ongoing responsibility to maintain disciplinary standards with players".

A hearing cost contribution of £500 was also imposed by the panel, which was brought by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
