Scotland 147-3 (14.5 overs): Cross 45 not out, Munsey 35, Berrington 34 not out

Scotland won by seven wickets

Scotland rekindled their challenge in Pool B after easing to a seven-wicket victory over Kenya in their World Twenty20 Qualifier in Edinburgh.

Kenya opted to bat and set up a target of 141 for five, with Irfan Karim scoring 46 and Morris Ouma 36 not out.

But an unbeaten 51-run stand between Matthew Cross (45) and man of the match Richie Berrington (34) for the fourth wicket was crucial at The Grange.

Scotland now lie third behind Afghanistan and the Kenyans.

The Afghans are unbeaten with three victories and with their match against Kenya having been rained off on Monday.

Scotland, who beat United Arab Emirates but lost to the Netherlands and Afghanistan, looked in trouble early on against Kenya when Kyle Coetzer was bowled by Elijah Otieno for a duck off the third ball.

However, Cross and Calum MacLeod (21) steadied the ship and George Munsey also added 35 before Berrington's 21-ball 34 helped secure the win.

All-rounder Cross told the Cricket Scotland website: "It was an important win for us after the two defeats and we had to come back strong and put on a good performance.

"Not only have we won, we've won well and convincingly, which is important.

"They got off to a good start and they deserved to be where they were, but we always knew we would pull it back in the middle overs and we felt they were a bit light on batting and our spinners bowled well."

Scotland next face Canada, who lie bottom with three defeats, on Thursday, while Kenya take on UAE on Wednesday.
