Ian White replaces Whitlock at Grand Slam of Darts

Simon Whitlock has withdrawn from the upcoming Grand Slam of Darts tournament in Wolverhampton and has been replaced by Stoke-on-Trent's Ian White.

Whitlock, 42, broke a bone in his ankle whilst playing in Benidorm last weekend and required a minor operation.

White, who is currently 66th in the PDC Order of Merit, was the first reserve for the event after finishing third in the Wildcard Qualifier on Friday.

The nine-day event starts at the Civic Hall on Saturday, 12 November.

The 32-man field, comprising of players from both the PDC and the BDO, have been divided into eight groups.

White has been drawn in Group B alongside five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld, 2011 Lakeside runner-up Dean Winstanley and 2009 BDO world champion Ted Hankey.

Defending champion Scott Waites, external will play Mark Walsh, Michael van Gerwen and Tony O'Shea in round one.

Meanwhile, three-time Grand Slam winner Phil Taylor has been drawn to face Mervyn King, James Hubbard and Steve Beaton, the man that defeated him at the quarter-final stage in 2010.
