Grant Holt signs three-year Norwich City contract

Norwich City top scorer Grant Holt has signed a three-year deal, keeping him at Carrow Road until 2014.

The 29-year-old's hat-trick in Saturday's 6-0 win over Scunthorpe took him to 21 goals in 41 games this term.

He has now netted 51 times in 85 appearances for the Canaries since arriving from Shrewsbury in the summer of 2009.

"It's been a good week," the former Nottingham Forest and Rochdale striker told the club website.

"Everyone knows how much I enjoy being here and in this city and at this football club.

"It's come at a great time and I'm here to score goals and get this club back where it should be and we're on the brink of that now.

"If the next three years are anywhere near as good as the last two I'll be absolutely delighted."

Holt's goals, including a hat-trick against local rivals Ipswich Town, have spearheaded Norwich's rise to second in the Championship, where they sit four points clear of nearest rivals Swansea.

He found the net 30 times last season as Paul Lambert's side lifted the League One title and bounced straight back to the second tier.

"Grant deserves this new contract for the way he has played for us since he came here," added Lambert.

"We made him captain for the benefit of the team but also to spur him on and he has responded.

"He has built a good relationship with the fans here and now he's got the security of knowing he's here for another for three years to hopefully keep on doing it for them."
