Leicester City brushed aside League Two Rotherham in the first round of the Carling Cup courtesy of a Jeffery Schlupp hat-trick.

Rotherham took the lead through a Matt Mills own goal in the 13th minute before City equalised through Paul Gallagher on 36th minute.

Schlupp put City ahead eight minutes after the restart and then doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a header.

The Ghana-born teenager completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Rotherham boss Andy Scott told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"The quality they have in their side that they have, I think we can take plenty of positives.

"We made some sloppy mistakes and then we were on the back foot.

"I believed in the players and in the first half, that belief was justified."

Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson told BBC Radio Leicester:

"We gave away the goal a little bit too easily. But in the second half I think we were a different class, we dominated everything, we were rather confident even at 1-0 down, we didn't panic.

"I saw him [Jeffrey Schlupp] in training and last season in youth - he's a fantastic talent.

"He has a little bit of everything, he's strong, a very good technique and a very good left foot and he's not afraid, he can fight up in the air. And of course his pace is very good, he can beat people."
