Serbian Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has already taken charge of the Rwanda squad
Serbian Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has been appointed coach of the Rwanda national team.
The 42-year-old has already taken charge of the squad after he was handed the job on Monday night.
He takes over from Ghanaian Sellas Tetteh who resigned two months ago, external after a 5-0 defeat to Ivory Coast in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
"I am ready to take up this challenge and guide Rwanda to another level," Sredojevic told BBC Sport.
Sredojevic's first task is to prepare the side for a World Cup qualifier this month.
The Serb was on a five-man shortlist named by the Rwanda FA last month, external but was chosen because of his vast coaching experience in Africa.
He was chosen ahead of Ratomir Dujkovic, Stephen Keshi, Patrice Neveu and Branko Smiljanic who all applied for the post.
The highlight so far for the Serb in his coaching career is leading Sudanese side Al Hilal to the semi finals of the Africa Champions League.
The Wasps failed to reach the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals and their next match is a 2014 World Cup qualifier against Eritrea.
The first leg is on 11 November and the second leg is just four days later.
He will also lead his squad to Tanzania for the 2011 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup next month.
Sredojevic has also been tasked of taking the team to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Cup but he faces a tough test against the Nigeria in the first qualifier.
