Scunthorpe United 0-1 Walsall

Walsall moved out of the League One relegation zone following victory over Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park.

The hosts dominated the opening stages, almost taking the lead, but Garry Thompson's volley flew just over.

But the Saddlers broke the deadlock against the run of play when on-loan Florent Cuvelier broke into the box and side-footed past keeper Sam Slocombe.

The Iron had plenty chances to equalise but Jon Parkin was twice denied by Saddlers keeper David Grof.

Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill told BBC Radio Humberside:

Knill disappointed with Iron defeat

"Obviously, we're disappointed. We had enough chances to take something out of the game.

"It was a poor goal. It's not as if they've earned it. We actually gave them the goal but, even after that, the players reacted really well and we went forward second half and had enough chances to definitely get something out of it.

"That's football. You can't win every game. The most difficult thing is losing but you have to quickly put it behind you because the next game comes quickly. "
