Mansfield Town chairman John Radford says he is close to finalising a deal to keep manager Paul Cox at Field Mill beyond the end of the season.

Cox, who was appointed in May has been linked with the manager's role at League Two side Burton Albion following Paul Peschisolido's sacking.

"Paul has no intention of leaving and I have no intention of letting him go," Radford told BBC Radio Nottingham., external

"He's here til at least the end of this season, if not the end of next season."

Radford added: "We have pretty much come to an agreement and that announcement will come through in the next few weeks."

Cox, whose deal expires in the summer, has led the Stags to third place in the Blue Square Bet Premier table on the back of a run of seven wins in eight matches.
