Manchester United's Sean McGinty joins Oxford United

Oxford United have completed the signing of Manchester United defender Sean McGinty on loan until January.

The 18-year-old can play at left-back or as a left-sided centre-half and came through the ranks at Charlton Athletic before a move to Old Trafford in 2009.

"Sean is a player I have watched on more than one occasion and he is a good player who has always impressed me," said Oxford manager Chris Wilder.

McGinty made his debut against West Ham in July before the deal was confirmed.

The Republic of Ireland Under-19 international was part of the side that won the 2010-11 FA Youth Cup and moved up to the Manchester United reserve team whilst also going out on loan to Morecambe last season.
