Derby County forward Steven Davies has joined Bristol City on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old turned down the offer of an extended contract at Pride Park in May, citing family reasons.
The Rams paid out £725,000 in a tribunal set fee to bring in Davies from Tranmere in 2008.
He was sidelined for 12 weeks last season with a fractured skull, but still managed 12 goals in 27 appearances for Nigel Clough's side.
In four seasons, Davies managed to play 94 times, scoring 23 goals.
He becomes Derek McInnes' sixth signing of the summer and could make his debut against Crystal Palace on Tuesday.
"I had a half-hour chat with the manager last night and that made my decision for me," he told BBC Points West.
"He wants this club to be challenging for promotion and that's what I want to be doing. Hopefully I'll be able to do that here."
